Provenance & Reveries
Middleburg Barrel Company, nestled in the heart of Virginia’s horse and wine country was created by a group of bourbon enthusiasts, entrepreneurs, and industry experts—each with a different path but a shared passion. This group wanted to bring something new to the world of premium spirits: a brands that celebrates quality without pretense, and creates connection without compromise. Their aim is to bridge heritage with innovation—to take what we all love about classic bourbon-making and make it feel fresh, accessible, and deeply personal. Their brands Provenance and Reveries both deliver on this mission.
Provenance was created to elevate the bourbon experience through purpose, care, and craft. Each cask is sourced and selected by Principal Whiskeymaker Jay West. A nationally recognized critic at Whiskey Raiders, West built his reputation reviewing thousands of whiskeys and has earned a following among collectors. For Provenance, he blends barrels into layered expressions, and after a period of aging when a barrel stands on its own, he releases it as a distinctive single-barrel statement. The barrels for Provenance all rest in rick houses on the 121-acre historic estate, aging in conditions designed to carry the depth and character only time and place can provide.
For Reveries, Jay West, also known by his reviewer name T8ke hand selects casks and releases them at cask strength. These barrels tend to lean towards the rare and unique. The Reveries come in many shapes and forms, from single barrels to blends and not yet released bottlings that push the boundaries of blending and innovation.
